WASHINGTON, DC—Tommy M. of Washington, DC, won $1,000,000 with the Powerball drawing held on March 26, 2025. Tenley Market, 4326 Wisconsin Avenue, NW, sold this winning ticket.

Tommy shared that he’d been his mother’s caretaker before she passed away. “It hit me hard, I lost my mom and my dog within a short timeframe.” He continued, “But, I had a dream just the other day. It told me I was going to be a millionaire. And here it is. It’s real!” exclaimed the native Washingtonian.

The winning numbers for the March 26 drawing were 5-20-29-39-53, and the Powerball was 6. Tommy’s winning Powerball ticket matched the five white ball numbers.

The loyal DC Lottery player said Tenley Market has been his go-to retailer for decades. “As regular players, we’re all familiar with one another. We talk about what numbers came out, who won—and this time, it’s me!” he smiled.

Lucky Park, owner of Tenley Market, and her entire staff were excited to hear the news that the $1,000,000 winning Powerball ticket was purchased at their store. For decades, the longtime DC Lottery retailer has been a staple in the northwest neighborhood. Park proudly shared that this is not the store’s first million-dollar win. Tenley Market was also the place of purchase for a $1,000,000 winning DC Black II scratcher in 2014, and a $25,000 A Year for Life prize with the Lucky for Life national jackpot game in 2016.

The DC Lottery’s newest millionaire plans to treat himself to a well-deserved vacation and save the lion’s share for his life’s next chapter after retirement.

This $1,000,000 win is the DC Lottery’s highest Powerball award for March 2025. In addition, the DC Lottery had a $2,000,000 Powerball winner in 2024, two $1,000,000 Powerball winners in 2021, and the record for the highest Powerball payout in DC was set with a $144,000,000 jackpot in 2009.

DC Lottery officials also report a $50,000 winning Powerball ticket from the drawing held on March 29. A winner has yet to come forward to claim the $50,000 Powerball ticket, which was sold at Samber Food Store, 3243 Mt. Pleasant Street, NW. Players have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim prizes. To learn more about how to validate and claim, click HERE.
